I associate a lot more with Attenborough than Dawkins on these issues. He is far less confrontational and argues from a positive support of evolution rather than Dawkin's negative anti-religious stance.

There is nothing wrong with a negative anti religious stance. Double negative after all. However I disagree with your sentiment. Religion is dangerous and needs to be confronted in the same way that all other philosophies and ideologies are. Attenborough is my Hero as is Dawkins, but Attenborough isn't trying to confront religion. Dawkins is.

After all, Dawkins has only spent a mere 30 years writing science books that explains evolution like noone else can reasonably hope to to You really should dig deeper in the Dawkins' library if you think he's all about bible bashing atheism. Read "The Ancestor's Tale" , Its a 650 page book and there's hardly a word about religion in there. I loved it so much I'm about to start it over. Dawkins referred to it as a "labour of love"

Other than that, Attenborough is a great, great man, his contribution to television and the public understanding of science and nature is unmatched, but ofcourse this is no contest, I say listen to them both, they are superb educators.

Well, as he says in the video, he does "confront" religion, but he does so in private. For the vast majority (or even all) of his nature programs, it is not the place to have open attacks of religion/creationism, though it may subtly allude to it.

I think that's why his shows have such widespread appeal - they are fascinating to anyone, theist or not.

I'd say both Attenborough and Dawkins are on nearly the same level in terms of challenging religious dogma, it's just that Dawkins makes a career out of doing so whereas Attenborough has his career as a naturalist first.
